What do you do when your kids grow up? …Become missionaries in Europe
That’s exactly what The Werner’s have done! We are on a new adventure for our lives and our work with the Church. Since 2001, we have invested in our own nation, Canada, by helping create fresh ways and means for Canadians to discover faith in Christ. We have learned a lot in the process, and have been introduced to inspiring leaders nationwide. As a result, we are better leaders, and have come to an even greater clarity about what we offer to God’s mission on earth. We have been privileged to gain such experience and insight.
Recently, we responded with a “Yes!” to an invitation to help create church congregations in the nations of Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece. Ironically, this is the region where Paul, the Apostle, established some of the first Christian churches almost 2000 years ago. What was once the sending base for Christian mission to the globe now has an overwhelming need for new Christian communities. These cultures have abandoned faith and the Church…and we are called to help plant the seeds of the Good News of Jesus Christ in this hardened soil. This is missions in the truest sense. Our goal is to move to Spain early in 2o12 to begin our work there.
We are being sent by the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada as Global Workers to work with Next Level International, a church planting mission. You can find our Global Worker profile here.
This means we need to raise the funds necessary to do the work we are called to—salaries, training costs, ministry expenses, communication costs and more. We are humbly approaching those who know and believe in us to ask for support. We need moral support as we venture out with risk, prayer support because it is spiritual work, and financial support to make it possible. We are convinced that the time is right for us to venture out in this new calling. Our family and friends are affirming our decision to go.
